NOTES FROM THE ENGINEER: California Sound Control's Mobile Protools Rig

This is the Mobile Protools Rig at California Sound Control with the Black Lion Audio 002R, 2 Great River MP2-NV's, a Unit Audio Micro Unit, and a Mac Mini Core2Duo with keyboard, mouse, and generic screen.

The 4 Great River channels are used first for the most important channels when tracking. 2 of them get used again for make-up gain during mixdown. It sounds much better than ITB. The mix goes out of the 002R's 8 DAs to the Micro Unit, which then takes a Left/Right mix back into Protools thru the MP2-NV's. This setup also allows you to overdub if need be at the same time as mix using Great River's all the way.

This is the bare bones rig to get 8 channels going at 24/96. Perfect for small acts or film shoots it fits in the corner on one milk crate. For more elaborate shows and productions it can expand to 16 channels at 24bit/48Khz thru an Allen & Heath 16:2 MixWizard, an AI-3, and a 16x4 snake not pictured. At that point it takes a small table.

Doing 5hr/$150 for the rest of July/Aug-
